2023 Kitchen Renovation Trends
Is this the year when you renovate your kitchen? Maybe only part of your kitchen should be updated or maybe you need to gut the whole thing and create the kitchen of your dreams.
According to the “2023 U.S. Houzz Kitchen Trends Study,” when homeowners partially upgrade their kitchen, they focus on the cabinets or appliances. They surveyed more than 3,600 respondents and found out that a majority of remodeled kitchens in 2022 included:
- LED Light Bulbs (65%)
- Energy-Effecient Appliances (61%)
- Water-Efficient Fixtures (34%)
- Energy-Efficient Windows (27%)
From a design standpoint, there was a slight increase in an open kitchen design. 40% of renovating homeowners are making their kitchens more open to interior spaces which is a 2% increase from 2021. Most (61%) of which completely open the space to include no wall separation.
HERE ARE SOME ADDITIONAL INSIGHTS FROM THE SURVEY:
- 83% of homeowners change the style of their kitchen during renovation.
- Cabinet styles are changing. There are more people starting to use flat-panel doors versus shaker-style.
- Bar pulls are the most popular cabinet pulls (72%) followed by knobs (34%), and cup pulls (10%).
- White cabinets remain most popular (40%), then wood tone (24%).
- Black, medium wood, and dark wood colors increased for contrasting island cabinet colors while blue and gray decreased slightly.
- Recessed lighting became the top lighting change vs under-cabinet lighting.
- 31% of homeowners surveyed say their lifestyle is healthier post-renovation.
